There are many things to
consider before investing in new
flooring. Probably the
most important consideration is
usually an after-thought: who will be the person to
deliver, install, and present
the finished product?
There are plenty of retail stores and
flooring outlets to choose from and many
products to consider, as well as
many reasons why you might pick one
product over another.
There are also plenty of presentable and
knowledgeable people readily
available to sell you
the product. The typical
process is to go to a store,
pick out a style, get a
measurement, purchase the
product, and have it installed
by one of the store's carpet installers.
Sometime
during or after the installation
is when you find out that this
style of carpet doesn't seam
together well, or that the
placement of the seams doesn't
suit your needs, or that you could have
purchased wider than standard
goods to better suit your layout and
eliminate some of the higher
profile seams. You might
even realize at this point, that the
carpet installer
chosen for you to complete your
installation doesn't possess the
skills necessary to install this
particular style of carpet. This is a
little late to make these
discoveries.
Anyone who has ever purchased
flooring before, and has experienced
the installation process, knows
that there is usually a major
difference between the sales
experience at the retail store
and the installation experience
in your home. Our goal is
to make the installation
experience a pleasant surprise
instead of a shocking discovery.
Because we share this goal with
you, our advice is that you call
us before you shop for carpet so
that we can come to you, and
together, make a determination
as to what type of carpet you
should purchase based on your
expectations of the finished
product. You want the end result
you're looking for
to determine what type of carpet
you purchase--not the other way
around.
At the time of our meeting, we'll take a measurement and tell
you exactly how much carpet it'll take to do the job based on
your layout and seam
considerations. Typically,
the type of measurement you'll
get from a retail store is just
enough to cover the floor in
order to be
competitive with other stores'
prices and win your business.
This in no way takes into account your preferences for
layout or seam placement.
Usually, you have to purchase
more product than your
layout requires in
order to
have layout and seam placement
options. Purchasing just
enough to cover the floor will
limit these options or eliminate
them altogether, leaving
you with seam placement that in
a lot of cases, will weaken the
durability and longevity of your
carpet.
You'll get to see first hand how
this applies to you
and what options you have at the time of the measurement.
You will be completely involved
in the process, which is step one
in your satisfaction with
the end result.
